Para Drop

On Hell's Highway is a 2-map simulation of the massive Allied airborne assault and ground offensive into Nazi-held Netherlands in September, 1944. Taking advantage of a disorganized and retreating German Army, more than three British and American airborne divisions were dropped along a 60-mile corridor in an attempt to capture key bridges across multiple rivers and canals, allowing the British XXX Corps to race northward and cross the Lower Rhine and into the industrial heartland of Germany. But Allied overconfidence, hasty planning, and some bad luck, along with a surprisingly tenacious and coordinated German defence, produced the last Allied operational failure and the destruction of an entire British Airborne division.

Designed by John Butterfield, On Hell's Highway is not simply a brush up and repackaging of the highly acclaimed original Hell's Highway game, but a reimagined treatment that truly makes it a new gaming experience. Taking advantage of recent and more extensive historical works, this redesign includes a revised order of battle and reinforcement schedule with an enriched and more accurate map treatment based on newly discovered source materials. The revised game system includes a more straightforward combat fire table that now allows for situational results which adds uncertainty and volatility while still retaining many of the core features that makes combat system feel familiar.
